Kasese Cleans Up: A Community Unites for a Fresh Start.

When was the last time you strolled through town and saw nothing but clean streets?

Think about! Was it last week? Last month? Or has it been so long that you can’t even remember?

You know what I’m talking about: plastic bags in gutters. Piles of trash on sidewalks. A constant reminder that our town is crying out for care.

Truth be told, it’s a problem that shows up every day, turning our streets into a cluttered mess.

Now imagine if that clutter kept growing—blocking drains, breeding pests, and darkening the spirit of our community.

What if we could clear the mess and see our town shine?

That’s exactly what happened on November 16, 2023.

We came together for a Cause.

On November 16, 2023 ( 2 Days prior to the official opening of Mt.St.Mary’s Hospital – DOK) the Catholic Diocese of Kasese led a town cleaning drive that brought hope and action to our streets.

People from many local institutions joined in, including Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital – DOK, St. John’s Seminary, Kasese Secondary School, Kasese Primary School, Kasese Guide Radio, Caritas Kasese, among others.

That day, every participant played a part in transforming Kasese. Volunteers gathered early, full of energy and determination. They worked together to sweep streets, clear waste, and even sort recyclables from the day’s collection.

The friendly voices of Kasese Guide Radio spread the word, keeping spirits high and informing locals about the cleanup. St. John’s Seminary’s brass band led a march around town, creating a festive atmosphere that turned hard work into a celebration.

The unity and purpose felt that day set the stage for a cleaner, healthier town, ready to welcome the new beginnings promised by our upcoming hospital opening.

And the drive wasn’t limited to cleaning alone. One of the standout moments was the planting of a tree at the Mayor’s Garden—a living symbol of hope and renewal for Kasese.

The day moved with a rhythm that could only be set by community spirit. With the brass band from St. John’s Seminary leading a lively march around town, their music energizing everyone and making the work feel less like a chore. In fact, it felt more like a community festival.

As the band played, volunteers swept through neighborhoods, collecting waste and cleaning up areas that had long been neglected.

Every corner of Kasese felt the impact of that day. Streets were swept clean, markets were tidied up, and even the drains looked clearer. People smiled at each other, proud of what they were building together—a town that cared for itself.

This day was proof that change starts with small actions. One clean street, one planted tree, one spirited march can spark a movement. It was a day where every act of cleaning was a step toward a healthier, happier Kasese. And that feeling, that promise of renewal, is something we can all be proud of.

The town cleaning drive was more than a one-day event—it was a wake-up call. Our streets tell a story. When they’re cluttered and neglected, our community suffers. But when we take action, we can rewrite that story together.

A cleaner Kasese isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about preventing problems before they start—reducing the risk of clogged drains, avoiding the spread of pests, and creating an environment where everyone can breathe easy. Clean streets make for safer, healthier communities and set the stage for growth and prosperity.

But the work doesn’t stop here. We need to keep our town clean and vibrant every day. And that means we all have a role to play. You can make a difference by properly disposing of waste, joining future cleanup events, and encouraging your neighbors to take pride in our community.

At Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital – DOK, we believe in caring for people and the places we live. The cleaning drive was just the beginning—a step toward a town that reflects our highest hopes for the future.

Imagine a Kasese where every street sparkles, where every park is green, and where our town’s spirit shines through.

Together, we can make that vision a reality.
