Quick Question: What happens when you plan for 600… but over 2,000 show up?
Simple: you roll up your sleeves, stretch your heart, and SERVE like never before.
Well, let me tell you what happened on 15/11/2023…Two days before the official opening of Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital – DOK.
So, we had this idea — a warm-up event. You know.
A free medical camp to bless the community and get our hospital team in gear.
We estimated maybe 500… okay, “let’s plan for 600 people.” That seemed safe.
We spread the word in churches. Got some buzz on local radio.
And then… the town showed up.

By 8 a.m., the compound was already FULL.
Lines curling around buildings.
Babies on backs. Elders leaning on walking sticks.
Teenagers. Mothers. Farmers. Boda riders.
All coming for one reason: CARE.
And we gave it.

Qn: What Did We Offer?
Ans: Everything We Had;
- Free screening and treatment for diabetes and high blood pressure
- Malaria testing and treatment
- Blood pressure checks and education
- Obstetric examinations and scans for expectant mothers
- Clubfoot review and treatment for children
- General outpatient services
- Counseling for those who just needed someone to listen
- And so much more.

You know what struck us most?
Many of these people hadn’t seen a doctor in months — even years.
Not because they didn’t want to. But because they couldn’t afford it.
That day, they didn’t need to. Because Everything was free.
We saw gratitude in tired eyes.
We saw tears of relief.
We saw people who walked from villages just to be seen.

Teamwork in Action…
Four Words, our staff were HEROES.
From doctors and nurses to administrators and volunteers, laboratory and support staff,
Everyone was ON.
Some missed meals. Others stood on their feet all day.
But no one complained. Not once.
Even our Lord, the Bishop, joined in. He walked the halls with the Finance Manager,
chatting with patients, praying with families, and encouraging the team.
It was more than a medical camp.
It was a mission.

Corridors Full, Hearts Fuller…
Long lines. Packed benches.
Tired but smiling staff.
Overflowing corridors.
People getting hope with every blood pressure reading, every scan, every gentle word.
It was Community in motion.

A Moment That Changed Us…
What was meant to be a small community event,
Turned into a movement of healing and hope.
It reminded us that you don’t need a grand opening to start doing good.
You just need to show up… and serve.
And serve we did.

Anyways, why does this matter…
Because this is the kind of hospital we’re building.
One that listens. One that steps in.
One that gives, even before the cameras roll.
We didn’t wait for official speeches to start healing.
We started with our hands, our hearts, and what we had.
